A world-renowned trainer on AI tools for research, Avi has trained 30,000+ researchers and works to bridge the gap between publishers, authors, and researcher support. He advises Springer Nature Cureus’ Journal of AI-Augmented Research, the world’s first journal dedicated to encouraging and curating AI-led research. He is also a member of the UN’s AI for Developing Countries Forum, a core member of CANGARU representing EASE in responsible AI policy for research, and serves on the EARMA RM Framework External Expert Advisory Board.
Avi is a chef (editor) at The Scholarly Kitchen, co-host of the New Books Network Scholarly Communication Podcast, and a reviewer for Wiley’s Learned Publishing. Gabrielle Fine is the director of recruitment and translator relations at Academic Language Experts. She has an undergraduate degree in Government from the London School of Economics. Prior to working at ALE, Gabrielle worked for many years in the nonprofit sector, as well as in public relations for Finn Partners. Gabrielle’s mission is to ensure that every client is matched with the perfect language expert for their project.

Susan Doron
Director of Humanities and Social Sciences Division
Susan Doron graduated from Princeton University and Fordham University Law School. After clerking at the New York State Appellate Court, she moved to Israel, where she has been editing books, articles and academic manuscripts for over 30 years. During this time, she has also engaged in legal research and writing and medical documentation. She received a certificate of distinction in editing from David Yellin College and has been active in music and music education.

Avital Tsype
Managing Editor
Avital Tsype is a quadrilingual literary and academic editor and translator. Having grown up between Latvia, Israel, and Australia, she finally settled in France, where she received a Masters in Literature from the Sorbonne Nouvelle (Paris 3). She has translated works by prominent Israeli authors such as Ayelet Shamir, Sami Berdugo, Anat Mashiah, and Yitzhak Livni. Avital is also active in community organizing, music, and music education.

Dr. Joshua Amaru
Director of Jewish Studies & Philosophy Division
Rabbi Dr. Joshua Amaru has a doctorate in philosophy from Bar Ilan University (dissertation on John McDowell) and was ordained by the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. Josh studied for many years at Yeshivat Har Etzion under Rabbi Aharon Lichtenstein. He presently is head of the Jewish Philosophy department at Yeshivat Eretz HaTzvi in Jerusalem. He was coordinating editor of the Koren/Steinsaltz Talmud – a translation of the entire Talmud into English with Rabbi Steinsaltz’s commentary and has worked on a wide variety of translation and editing projects.

Dr. Meredith Armstrong

Meredith is an interdisciplinary qualitative research psychologist, with a PhD in Higher Education from Rhodes University in South Africa. She has completed a myriad of projects relating to developmental psychology, literacy, English as a foreign language, gender equity, art therapy, as well as social inclusion and diversity studies. Her past work has displayed a deep interest in research with the potential to create positive social change by means of practical intervention and community development. She has completed numerous courses specifically geared toward writing and editing for article publication in academic journals within the social sciences.

Dr. Anne Pabel
Managing Editor
Anne Pabel graduated with a B.A. in English and History from Heinrich Heine University in Germany, followed by an M.A. (Research) and a Ph.D. in English Literature from Nelson Mandela University in South Africa. Her research interests include life writing as well as trauma and memory studies, which led to the publication of a book on trauma in women’s writing from the global South. Anne has extensive experience in academic editing and in teaching literature, writing, and German language classes at the university level.
